I have a mom who is nursing twins (born 2/4) & has been having repeat
engorgment every week or two that resolves with lots of nursing. The
latest episode moved into mastitis. She nurses the babies together & a
massage therapist shared the following thoughts in regard to the
recurrent problem:
[ I used to raise dairy goats many moons ago in my hippie days and if we
had a
doe with twins and a nursing problem (eg. mastitis, engorgement, tender
or
swollen teats) we would only let her have one kid at a time to suckle and
then
trade off! Along with massaging the udder, this sequential nursing often
resolved the problem without using medication.
What do you folks think?
Warmly,
