OK guys I am totally out of my depth here but am asking this for a great
and gloriously pro-breastfeeding RN who is a huge support to me in our
NICU. SHe asks: what %age is considered OK for clini positive stool in
premie BREASTFED babies?... As she explained it to me the OK range for
clini positive in formula fed babies is .5 to 1. Over 2 is bad, indicating
lots of non digested food. Usually breastfed babies digest more of the
food. But they put the fortifier etc etc in and sometimes the breastfed
babies have higher numbers too. She says they are unable to find a
reference for the OK range in brestfed babies. Is it the same?
Does anyone know what is OK or at least where I could find the information?
PLease answer with simple terminology!!!!!!
All agog....
thanks Anne Merewood
