I was a bit sceptical of claims of dioxin in tampons, since I first saw
them in ads for an alternative product. I called several manufacturers,
and they said they used oxygen bleach to sanitize the tampons. Oxygen
bleaching does not cause the production of dioxin. Chlorine does, and
only with paper, not cotton. So if one is using cotton tampons, or
oxygen bleached tampons, there should not be dioxin in them.
