Hi all,
Just wanted to clarify in my post about the twins... I was NOT NOT
NOT suggesting to end the supplements permanently, forever, goodbye or
hoping that a 24 hour nurse-a-thon would then replace 60% supplementation,
far from it.
Rather, just NOT supplement for ONE (only ONE) 24 hour nurse-a-thon
to break the bottle "habit" (of both mother and babies), give Mom a break as
she could say to herself and her family that she is on ordered bedrest with
the babies, and get her breasts some much much much needed stimulation.
After that 24 hours (if they made it that long! Joy thank you for
your excellent point about them perhaps NOT being hungry just bc they are
unsettled, this is my impression of these babies as well -- mom is stressed
, thus they are reacting to her tension and she then reacts to them and
around and around)... anyway after the nurse-a-thon then to breast first for
at least 3 feeds (even if those are every hour or less apart) before
offering supplements. And making sure they are brought to breast at least
8X/24 which I don't believe they are currently...
The Question being here how to then tell how much supplement to give
-- thank you to all who gave me very specific how to decrease supplements
schedules!! (I'm clueless as to why these aren't in effect already, will be
asking LC tomorrow)
SNS is not really a well received option for this mom -- she needs
extra hands just to juggle positioning one, never mind two, at a time due to
large size and position of downward/outward facting nipples.

Again,
thanks to everyone -- even though I've been nomail/lurking for a long long
time I get so much from you all and sleep easier knowing you're just a
keyboard and a modem away!!

aLLLways,
anne robb
