Hello there guys.

Our clinic is preparing of World Breastfeeding Week. We are going to be
doing something all month as Texas celebrates World Breastfeeding Month.

I came up with an idea that I wanted our local La Leche Members to possibly
do and was surprised by the response.

My idea was to have a booth where 2 tv's were set up. On one tv there would
be a woman sitting there breastfeeding her baby. On the other tv would be a
woman preparing bottles and the formula.

The idea was to show how convenient breastfeeding is. Now the response was
that La Leche League's policy is not to show comparisons between
breastfeeding and bottlefeeding because of possibly offending someone and
making them feel bad about making the wrong choice.

I don't understand this policy first of all and second of all I don't
understand why this presentation would offend anybody. I mean let's face
it, there will always be someone who bottlefeeds who will defend their
choice in a defensive manner.

When you explain that breastfed babies tend to not get sick as much as
bottlefed babies do...you will have someones say that they bottlefed their
baby and their baby is really healthy.

Breastfeeding is better for the baby and the mother. Why can't you show
that?

Carrie
