I am working with a mom and baby who are suffering from over-active
letdown. She has greatly reduced her supply, but her MER is still so
strong, even when feeding on the same breast for the 3rd feeding. She had
the same problem with her first baby. Baby does feed better at night, but
mom has fed lying down in the day time and baby still is overwhelmed and
cries during most of the feeding.

I've seen her feed and with the MER her milk shoots out from many ducts,
baby goes back on, gulps a few times and cries. Baby has some green stools,
especially on days when she is more overwhelmed with the gusher. On the
days when she has yellow stools she is less fretful.

Have you seen a persistent OALD problem? Is it just this mother's breast
action that can't be overcome?

She said that with her first baby she went for 5 days on one breast before
switching in one test period. He still struggled with the MER.

Is it still over supply or just an over-energetic MER?
