Today, in my office, I was enrolling a pregnant mom (8 weeks along) into my
program. We were discussing the benefits of breastfeeding when the cleaning
lady "barged" in to take out the trash. She heard part of our discussion
and said very proudly "I breastfed my children and I saved a life!" "Good
for you!" I exclaimed, exceedingly happy to have a lay person back up what I
was saying. She went on to tell us that when her son was tiny, she, her
husband and baby, and another couple with a small baby, went up to the
mountains in Idaho for a weekend. A blizzard hit and they were snowed in
for days. The other baby was ABM-fed. "That baby would have died if it
weren't for me because his mama ran out of formula. I breastfed both babies
until we could get down out of the mountains". Another great breastfeeding
story!

down to a chilly 85 degrees!)
