Just need to comment on this. At our hospital, most cesarean birth moms leave
on the 3rd post op day. We remove the staples & replace with steri strips just
prior to discharge. It is rare to have any problems with this in a young,
healthy population. We may wait a day or 2 longer on an obese woman. Our older
GYN patients usually have them removed day 4-7 post op. There are several
layers of stitches under the skin. The staples (metal clips) are only holding
the skin together.
