I did not mean to insinuate that the child would be ceasing breastfeeding
anytime soon. However, I do feel many women beginning solids will find
themselves cutting back on the number of breastfeedings. Anything other than
exclusive (no other food or drink or pacifier) breastfeeding is considered a
"red flag" for possibility of returning ovulation, which can occur before the
first menstrual period. It is very important that they know their bodies
intimately if lactation amenorrhea is being used as a birth control method.
Personally, I still consider the introduction of other food sources the
beginning of weaning - even though weaning is taking us over 4 years at the
moment!

Since I was treated for infertility for quite awhile before 2 kids, I read a
lot about fertility - good books, The Fertility Awareness Handbook, Barbara
Kass-Annese, R.N., C.N.P. and Hal Danzer, M.D. and Breastfeeding and Natural
Child Spacing, Sheila Kippley. Helpful for avoiding and achieving pregnancy.

I would like to read the research you sited by Quandt. Where might I find it?
