One of my pet theories is that the improper use of anti-fungals like
nystatin have contributed to resistance. How many moms do you know that
have used bottle after bottle of the stuff, received nothing for their own
nipples and just keep passing it back and forth with 1/2 hearted attempts
to treat. It is such a drag for moms to remember to use it at least 4 x a
day, so easy to forget, especially when it looks a little better. That's
why I like GV and fluconazole. GV is quick, short tx and fluconazole is
next best, once a day for longer time. Anything that does the job in the
least complicated way gets my vote. Sincerely, Pat in SNJ - where it will
soon be August (typically our dread thrush season).
