Heather, I was a little behind in my reading but couldn't help but respond.
Hopefully all the votes of support will help this mom to trust that her baby
really is just fine. My own experience with this:
2nd child, M, BW 9#6oz., exclusively BF: 1 mo: 11#10oz,
 2mo: 14#11, 4mo: about 20#, 6 mo: about 25+ #, 1 yr: 27+# !!! Just
today I told this to a mom at our BF support group as she was also concerned
about her baby's wt. I have to say the ped questioned me at 2 mo visit re
"was I sure I wasn't giving baby anything else?" but when reassured not,
congratulated me on "the Grade A variety"
At 6 mos, said "trust that he's growing the way he should" and at 1 yr
"see...now we know why he gained so much at first". (son now 18, 6ft+, and
very slim). Corker is #4, F, BW*#11oz, weighed 19# at 15 months and I was
the concerned mom. Same ped...finally reminded me (chart in hand) that
SOMEONE has to be on the bottom to balance out the ones on the top!!!!
Needless to say, I chose him to be my preceptor when I went thru the UCLA
Lact. Cons. course!!!
