Marmet has a Marmet Suck Assessment. From: Marmet, C & E. Small. "How to
solve neonatal sucking problems: A key to overcoming sore nipples, slow
weight gain, and failure to thrive. Lactation Institute, 1984. The whole
process was written up in American Journal of Maternal Child Nursing,
Nov/Dec., 1984, Vol 9, No. 6 pp 401-407. I also refer you to Chapter 3 of
Alison Hazelbaker's thesis, The Assessment Tool for Lingual Frenulum
Function (ATLFF): Use in a lactation consultant private practice. 1993.
Chapter 3, although concerned with assessing for tongue tie, nicely tells
you how to eval for "normal". Sincerely,Pat in SNJ
