To My Lactnetters

I want as much information to study by as possible. Some of the
photos are tricky and I would like practice before the exam. I think it
is more about test taking then trying to learn from the pictures. I would
never look without talking, the mother can tell you so much by her
discription of what she is feeling.
Now I agree with Rene about gathering as much information as possible
before the exam ! I had been an OB nurse for 32 years when I sat for the
exam. I "have seen many a breastfeeding dyad, some mothers with normal
latches, others with very abnormal latches" and yes I knew the
difference.
I bought many books and studied like crazy before sitting for the exam.
Remember some of us are older and have not taken an exam in years. We need
all the help and tips we can find.
It wasn't a feat of thaumaturgy ( the performance of miracles) when I
passed, I had worked hard, studied hard and was very proud when I could
put IBCLC behind my name, but if I could have gotten my hands on photos to
study I would have jumped at the chance. .
Sitting for an exam is very stressful!
Gasping for breathe as I step down off my stool, I don't stand on many
ladders because remember I am older.
