Paula's question made me think about my recent experience in attempting to
locate someone to help a mom out of state. I frequently get calls from
current and past clients looking for LCs for friends in need or because
they themselves are moving. The ILCA directory could be a useful tool to
this means. However, the way it is set up it is very difficult to do this.
It is listed in alphabetical order with a division of states in the back.
When I called ILCA to try to help find a LC in a specific area I related my
frustration to them re this. The answer I was given boiled down to $$$.
They told me that listings by state made it too easy to use as a mailing
list and since they sell mailing lists.....well, sorry....but they would
convey my concerns to the board. I'm not sure this is a valid reason as
people who want to use it for that purpose will still find a way to do so
and meanwhile as a member I have a very "user un-friendly" directory. Any
ideas?
