Well you've now heard from a pediatrician. Why on earth would it be
necessary to interrupt breastfeeding? That makes no sense at all. Because
of erythromycin? Rubbish. Why is the mother on it anyways? Because taking
away the antibodies in the milk is going to help the baby fight off this
terrible disease? AARGH!
Off topic, incidentally, is why on earth did the baby have a cbc? As a
crotchety old pediatrician, can't anyone treat a simple thing like impetigo
anymore without doing a white count? What if it were high, would some 8
month old be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics? WoW! Treat the
patient, not the lab! (Newman 1970, 1971....to 1998).
