"For raw and cracked nipples, pour one capful of hydrogen peroxide onto each
nipple after feeding baby, and let it air dry. Do this four times a day.
There is no need to rinse it off before feeding baby. It does not hurt, and
the nipples will heal in a couple of days.

Hi,
I am a visiting nurse in a maternal/childhealth program. We get quite a few
c/section wounds, etc. Many doctors prescribe peroxide and/or betadine for
wounds. This is no longer the correct treatment. These products are cytotoxic
to fibroblasts, meaning they interfere with the good cells trying to heal the
wound. It has also been found that a moist bed aids healing. There are
numerous hydrogels on the market as well as a gel, called Normgel. It is
normal saline in a gel state and is good for open wounds. I have tried it on
bf moms, it works well because it is cool and moist. It also helps to use some
kind of telfa instead of a gauge, or cotton pad which would absorb the gel.
