Excuse my late-night musings. I seem to have offended some people and not
quite gotten my point across. OF COURSE I do not advocate "grabbing" any part
of a mom's anatomy without approaching her respectfully and without some
discussion. Perhaps this is a case of semantics. We no doubt all have
different phrases we are comfortable with and which can equally convey respect
for the mom's autonomy. Anyway, as I said in my post, I wasn't saying we
shouldn't ask permission, just trying to put my finger on what was bothering
me about the discussion. I guess it was the fact that, in an ideal world,
touching a mom's breasts to help her position the baby would be looked on no
differently from touching her shoulders to help her position herself in bed.
Yes, I know, we don't live in an ideal world. Miriam
