Altho bread is made with yeast, it is thoroughly dead and harmless by the
time it is baked.   An increase in the amount of bread someone eats, causes
a dramatic increase in carbohydrates which may feed yeasties which are
living in the gut quietly in balance with the body.  Now, introduce big
quantities of carbohydrates, and voila, you have created a banquet for the
yeastie beasties....   For those of you dealing with moms who have chronic
yeast problems, improve the diet by recommending 5-7 servings of
non-starchy vegetables, adequate protein, and the yogurts with LIVE
cultures.   You may need to  refer to a dietitian to help the woman refine
her diet to reach an equilibrium of gut good guy bacteria, and bad guys.

Several mums who have called me and mentioned continuing episodes of
thrush have also recently purchased bread making machines and had been
eating lots of freshly baked bread. (we have mostly frozen bread here,
fresh is a luxury - if you get to the supermarket before it is sold
out) Cutting down on the intake of freshly made bread seems to fix the
problem. Maybe this is what the producer has been made aware of?
One of the mums, who I meet regularly, is taking an acidopholous
tablet each day to combat thrush and has stopped her previously
recurrent thrush for 9 months now.
