Hi all,

I asked a few days ago about how long is previously refrigerated
breastmilk "good" when left out at room temperatures. No replies so here
is the reason for the mother asking. Any suggestions? (Please cc to me
as well as to list)

>>The reason I ask about the room-temperature breast milk is this:
Knowing that I will be working on Tuesday evening, I pump some milk on
Tuesday AM and put it in the refridgerator. Right before I go out
(about 4:30PM), I take the milk out of the fridge so it can gradually
warm up to room temperature. Chloe then drinks it anywhere between 1
and 3 hours later, depending when she gets hungry. (She's a wonderful
eater, but her feeding times vary a lot from day to day.) Of course,
we could just leave the milk in the fridge and warm it right before she
eats it, but this seems to take so long and we have trouble getting the
right temperature. Also, if it turns out she wasn't hungry, we don't
know whether to put that bottle back in the fridge, leave it out at room
temp, or throw it out because now it has germs on it. So it has just
seemed easier to have milk ready and waiting at room temp. That leads
me back to my original question: how long can previously refridgerated
breastmilk stay "good" at room temp?<<

Ta ta for now,
