Good afternoon, all. I just received a call from a mother of a breastfeeding
nine month old. Child is eating small amounts of solid foods but still
receiving most of his nutrition from nursing. Mother has recently been
diagnosed with lupus, primary manifestations are joint pain. Rheumatologist
recommended immediate weaning due to medications she would be put on. Mother
explained that this could not be accomplished over night and she would need @
least one month to wean.
She called to find out how to accomplish weaning but in our discussion, she
verbalized that she really would like to continue nursing if possible. She
called the physician and he told her she would be on PLACQUENIL and an anti-
inflamatory. He has not decided which yet as she is allergic to ibuprophen.
Any info on breastfeeding while on this medication? I am stiffled right now
as my computer is down (due to lightening storm) and I do not have access to
the internet!
Send private e-mail to Debi538.
Thanks in advance!
