A mom was referred to me with an unusual twist on an adoption and
breastfeeding question. Baby is due any day now, mom unable to have her
own due to multiple hormonal problems leading to a "uterine mass" that
was removed along with a complete hysterectomy four years ago.
Would the complete hysterectomy have any bearing on her chances of
inducing lactation? She takes estrogen replacements. I'm thinking about
grandmas who have relactated, wondering if mom would need to d/c
estrogen, also wondering about side effects of d/c estrogen.
