Dear all,
Just thought I'd let you know that I have now been a mother-in-law for
approximately 100 hours, and I still look the same as before! Jill's wedding
was superbly wonderful; perfect in every way, and I have no funny stories to
relate because nothing went wrong. Even the weather cooperated -- it was
sunny and warm (96 degrees -- maybe just a tad more than warm). My brother in
law from Mississippi performed the ceremony, and he was fantastic! Very
personal and warm "counsel" for the bride & groom.
We had a Belizian band at the reception -- wasn't quite sure what it was going
to be like, but it was great -- lots of fun music. (Derrick was born in
Belize -- and for those of you who don't know where Belize is -- I didn't --
it is just below Guatemala in Central America; formerly called British
Honduras.)
Jill was relaxed -- me too, amazingly enough. There were enough nurses and
lactation consultants among the particpants to take care of about any
emergency that might have surfaced -- both Jill and Derrick are nurses, as
were two of the groomsmen. I haven't yet convinced Jill that being a
lactation consultant is in her future, but am quite certain that babies will
be much more appealing once she has one of her own about 5 years from now.
Anyway, just had to share the joy of a wonderful wedding celebration with 2000
of my closest friends.
Warmly,
Jan Barger, in Wheaton, where the temps have dropped to the high 50's.
