We have a year old toddler who has been exclusively breast fed who has not
gained weight in the last 6 months. He now weighs 16lb.4oz., 28 in. lg. (5th
percentile). He gained well from 0-6mo. but very little from 6-12 mo. The
Pediatrician wants solids introduced to aid in weight gain, but he will not
eat. He tastes and stops. He breast feeds q3-4hrs. only. He has been seen
by two speech therapists, and two Ped. G.I.'s and they find no problems. He
is now being seen by a Pediatric Psychologist who specializes in eating
disorders. He suggested the Mom talk to us. So, I am coming to all of you
to see if anyone has had any similar problems and can help with a solution. I
just walked in the door from the Mother's Milk For the Preterm Infant
conference sponsored by Rush University College of Nursing in Chicago. The
message was on my voice mail. Wish I had gotten it before the conference, but
such is life. Thanks for any and all help. I will be anxiously waiting for
your learned advice. You can either e-mail me privately - [log in to unmask] -
or post on lactnet.
