On a positive note about acceptance of babies over 6 months "still"
breastfeeding, yesterday I went to a Jenny Craig weight loss center to
"re-up." The pseudo health questionnaire asks if the client currently
has any of a list of specific conditions ("condition" is my word; I don't
recall what their paperwork says...). On the list are 2 items that
jumped out to me: (1) breastfeeding a baby up to 6 months, and (2)
breastfeeding a baby over 6 months. Nutritionally, I'm not sure if it
matters to the mom (I assume, however, that they are concerned about the
extra calorie requirement of a mom exclusively breastfeeding a younger
child). I was really excited, though, to see that they even recognize a
baby can breastfeed past 6 months...
