Editors:

I am writing about the article by Dr. Nancy Snyderman, entitled "When to
Bring on the Bottle." Perhaps Dr. Snyderman is trying to justify her
less than ideal breastfeeding experience. Her personal opinions differ
markedly from current scientific research and the American Academy of
Pediatrics breastfeeding guidelines. I feel the article was
irresponsible, as it could sway your readers away from breastfeeding.
Would you print an article from another doctor stating that "my feeling
is that using a car seat is worth the hassle for six months?" or "my
feeling is that not smoking around babies is worth the hassle for six
months?" Why is breastfeeding the only health practice that does not get
an unconditional endorsement for fear of inducing guilt?
