I received a call from a woman whose 14 month old baby began
making faces
when he nursed on one side- as if it tasted bad. Mother expressed
one
ounce from each side and noted that the yucky side was yellow in
color and
tasted "bitter" or "sour", the good side was milky white and sweet
This may well be because one side is involuting - milk tends to go
yellower and 'saltier' as volume decreases. Is this the side that is
less popular or less fed from??
The reference that Patricia Young was referring to regarding breast
refusal and breast cancer is:
Am J Surg 1996 Dec; 62(12):998-999. Sorry, don't have the author.
Hope this helps
