I had just about the same information from a cleft lip/palate clinic of
a quite baby-friendly hospital well known by dr. Newman. The clinic
coordinator was quite gentle and seemed knowledgeable. However, I would
like to point out that "will not likely succeed breastfeeding" does not
mean "will not succeed", it just mean that it may not succeed, and, if
it does, it might be out of incredible effort. I have seen one succeed
(cleft of the soft palate) and I am still impressed by the mother's
determination...
