Katherine,
We are supportive of the whole issue of breasts on display and breasts for
feeding.
Recently my 17 year old son on train. Baby crying, thought to himself 'that
poor baby seems hungry'. Mum feeds baby my son thinks great, women next to him
moan to each other how disgusting and on a train. Like a well brought up lad
he turns to women and says' I thought that was what they were for. didn't you
use yours?' Feeding mum smiles at him and he was happy.
Once home he told me all and was upset at the womens reaction to the
breastfeeding. Yes he likes breasts but they are for a baby's use. We need to
work hard on intrenched attitudes and opinions if we are goinig to help women
over come such negative views from their sisters. Women are anxious about
exposure in public as breastfeeding too often is seen as an alternative method
of feeding to the more 'normal' one of formula feeding.
Bye the way I have just finished Breastfeeding - Biocultural perspective GREAT
BOOK, keep them coming,
