Many, many thanks to all who helped with an unusual problem I posted to
Lactnet 2 weeks ago...a 1 yo BF baby girl who weighed 50#. This baby
was seen and evaluated by a breastfeeding experet who is a
pediatrician. In this Dr.'s opinion, the baby was normal, although
unusually heavy. A creamatocrit was done and milk fat was WNL. No
endocrine problems picked up. The bottom line was continue breastfeeding
around 6 times per day, offer fruits and vegetables, and other
nutritous, low calorie foods and watch. The mother was so happy. The
baby is standing, cruising along furniture, and appears ready to "take
off". Mother feels that the baby will grow into her weight...not lose,
which is probably accurate. She is greatful for all information and
support and I appreciate all suggestions and professional comments.
