My son began to call "them" : drink-drinks, at about 9 months. He came up
with this himself (I've certainly never heard it before), and the great part
is that now his little friend and her baby brother (both of whom have nursed a
long time), having grown up listening to him talk about it, have assimilated
the word into their vocabularies, and it's "drink-drinks" around their house,
too, and always has been. My niece called it chi-chi, I guess after the
Mexican phrase.
