How about having the mom give a bolus (about .5 - 1cc) with the sns or
fingerfeeder at breast whenever the baby starts to fall asleep. I often
use a syringe and feeding tube for this, it gets the baby to swallow,
which produces another suck... Another thing that helps small premies
is very careful, supportive positioning, for example a transitional hold
or modified football hold (baby's tummy clutched to mom's hip with her
elbow, baby's back supported on mom's arm, and his head in the palm of
her hand; mom leans back and then lifts baby's head to nipple height to
latch.) Good luck,
