I need help from any of you with experience with this drug....
An NICU mom of a 26 weeker (first baby) was given Depo Provera at 2 1/2 weeks
postpartum. She had been pumping 4-5x/24 hours and actually producing quite
good amounts. Within 24-36 hours her supply dropped significantly. The
perinatologists don't know of any other drug to reverse the affects and even
doubt the cause and effect. I think it's suspicious and found that increased
pumping did not help over the next week. I wish that the injection had been
after 6 weeks postpartum as recommended, or, better yet, another birth control
selected. So, this mom is now using some herbal tea and has decided to keep
pumping since "some milk is better than none". I'm wondering what the chances
of increased supply are when the drug levels decrease??? or what about
Reglan??? Is there anything else??? Many thanks for your help. It's hard
enough to mother a 26 weeker without having additional difficulties like this.
