I don't have good articles for you, buti f my own experience is of
any use here it is. I have four children. My first child nursed 11
months
and I got my period when she was a year. My second child nursed 22
months and
I got my period when he was 13 months. My third child nursed for just
over 3 years and I got my period when he was 19 months. My fourth
child is 21 months
and still nrusing. I got my period when he was 19months as well. My
doctor was a bit surprised but not at all worried about it when I
have
my check up and was still not menstruating.
Now that I think of thit there is an article on this in Kathy
Dettwyler's
book on biocultural perspectives on breastfeeding (I can get yo the
exact reference
if you need it) and one of the interesting things is said was that it
seems that as women get older they go longer before getting
their periods. Certainly made sense to me biologically and also
refelcted
my own experience.
Good luck with this.
