Our local ABC News affiliate (PBF News) is airing a program on Dr. James
McKenna's work on SIDS, and I was interviewed in my home (actually, next to my
family bed) about co-sleeping and how it has worked for my family.
I hopefully did not sound like too big a nut, but just nutty enough that
people will notice how normal I really am as a parent in most other ways!
Just about every one that I know practices some version of family co-
sleeping...and even the ones that don't like to admit "it" to others will talk
about "it" with me. I mentioned breastfeeding quite a few times, and what I
had read about the reduced risk for SIDS in co-sleeping/breastfeeding babies.
The news reporter will be interviewing Dr. McKenna via Satellite. I handed
her my copy of the Mothering Magazine which reprised Dr. McKenna's work last
year. The magazine also has an article from Tine Thenevin on "The Family Bed"
book. The reporter hadn't seen either of these resources before, so hopefully
I will have done my part to educate her before her interview.
If you are in south Florida, tune in to PBF News (channel 10 here in the Palm
Beach area) this coming Wednesday the 25th at 11pm.
