When speaking with parents who are taking the popular "parent-directed
feeding" class, I've found it effective to innocently remark "Did you know
that the church where that class originated has completely disassociated
themselves with that program?" I try to say this with an "isn't-that-
interesting?" tone of voice, and then I mention "Oh, and by the way, Dr. James
Dobson's Focus on the Family also does not recommend that program. Isn't that
something?" (Dobson is highly respected among many Christian parents in the
U.S.) Usually the response is a dropped jaw and a quiet "You're kidding..." or
just complete silence.
