Look out for the reaction to this posting! I bet the computers are
humming already.

I know nothing about 4H, but I do know that talking about breastfeeding
does not need any kind of disclaimer.  She obviously hit a nerve with
that judge and I think her mother should lodge a formal complaint with
the national organization.  There is NO, I repeat NO excuse for dressing
down a 9 year old for any reason in public.  Especially when the person
with the problem is what passes for an adult!

I certainly hope that this matter is addressed and rectified, although
how do your repair the damage done to the poor child's self esteem.  I
suspect her mom has pointed out that the people who react the most
strongly and negatively to breastfeeding usually have had prior problems
with their bodies, their parenting practices or shall I say, their
brains?? I know I have gone too far, and made a sweeping generalization,
but I don't usually have this strong a reaction to postings on Lactnet!

I can't wait to hear Dr. Jack, Kathy D. Kathy B and the other articulate
Netters to respond.
