Being in a large urban area with a very international population, I get
a lot of male callers. These are sometimes men whose wives speak little
English, but more often my callers are fathers who are just doing
everything they can to support their wives. They can't breastfeed the
baby, but they can call the La Leche League Leader or Lactation
Consultant. The vast majority know a lot about breastfeeding and are
very familiar with the history of their wife and baby. They make the
arrangements for the visits. They check out if they have missed any
tips to solve a problem. They come to get the pumps. They are full
partners and helpmates in every possible way. I love to deal with
them! I have rarely had a problem helping couples of this kind because
the families are so committed to breastfeeding.

I have also had an obscene caller and that was VERY different--The
average father is all business and reporting and not too much anatomy.
The obscene caller wants you to talk very graphically about anatomy and
techniques, etc. Actually, I haven't had one of these calls in years
and I attribute that to the availability of 1-900 numbers. Maybe it's
just luck.
