Ok,
You have a client who never gets yeast infections (vaginal or otherwise)
when she takes antibiotics.  She has had only one yeast infection (vaginal)
in her life (caused by her boyfriend cheating on her).  She has been on
antibiotics more times than she can remember...no problems.  At one time she
was on 3 different antibiotcs (one after the other, no breaks in between)
for 4 months (due to mastitis that would not resolve)...no yeast problems.
Heartily resistant to yeast, yes?
Then she ends up with something on her nipples that does not present like
typical yeast, (no itching, burning, etc.) but resolves quickly with use of
Gentian Violet.  She (ok, I) suspects it is yeast because her baby had a
yeasty bottom that showed up out of nowhere (no antibiotics).
The "yeast" on her nipples was not treated for 2 days after first noticing
it, then was treated to cortizone (3 x a day) for 2 days, with no
improvement, then GV 1-2 times a day for 3 days (after morning shower and
just before bed).  During the time before the GV was used, the "rash" got
more red and raised, but not very fast.  It never got "out of control", if
you know what I mean.  A little bit of flaking, but almost unnoticable, no
itching or burning, except it was sore a bit if touched.  BF was fine, until
a split developed in the right nipple.

What would you think about this case?  Would you suspect that it was indeed
yeast, or something else?  Contact dermititis has been ruled out...no
changes in laundry soaps, body soap not used on the breasts, no new clothing
or bras, no changes in diet...
What about excema?  Does excema respond to GV?
My queries are:
If someone is normally VERY resistant to yeast infections (whatever kind)
and then ends up with one, would the body be fighting against it so hard
that it (yeast) would have a hard time going "full blown" as we see in so
many women, and respond to treatment more quickly than usual?  Is the extent
to which yeast becomes a problem related to how well the body can fight it
off?  I would think so, using my common sense hat, but what do you think?
Also, what IS Gentian Violet?  How does it work, and why?  ANyone know where
it comes from or how it is made?
