HI All,
In regards to the woman who keeps treating for persistant thrush because of
nipple pain, I submit that it is not thrush she is dealing with anymore at
all. She said that she gets this pain then has periods, and that her
periods come late, etc. It is not unusual for periods to be somewhat
irregular while BF, it is happening to me right now. Had my first cycle
last month, and now it has been 40 days, I ovulated, but still no period
(and no I am not PG! Hubby is "fixed" :D ). It is my understanding that the
hormones involved in BF can keep things a bit off, and that that is normal.
Someone correct me if I am off base here.
As far as the nipple tenderness being so bad, I can really relate to that
too! It is the hormones. When the hormones go nuts with ovulation, nipples
frequently get sore and tender with mo outward appearance of trauma. When
the period starts or the hormones settle down right after ovulation, then
the tenderness subsides. This is all normal, yet irritating, and not very
pleasant. For myself, I take some ibuprofin a few times a day to help ease
the pain, and that seems to help. THe pain only last a couple of days, and
depending how strong the hormones kick in determines how much pain I will be
in. (Last month was almost unbearable, this month was no big deal.)
Hope this helps...
Jay
(hoping I can miss several more periods this way...wishing I could have gone
more than 15 mo without them!)
