Donna,
I agree that failure of lymphatic drainage is a risk factor for
infection.  We can see that in the breast where unrelieved engorgement
or even incomplete drainage of a specific area of the breast can precede
mastitis.
        I'm not sure if I agree that a child with oral candidiasis is totally
non-contagious, though.  In many other infections, an increase in the
number of organisms transferred to another person increases their chance
of contracting the infection.  Thus all the concern over the viral load
with HIV.  If a child has an oral overgrowth of yeast, it's a good bet
that his saliva and toys that he has mouthed contain a large number of
yeasts, which could be more than the immature immune system of an
exposed infant could handle.  Just my thought on the matter.
