I have a client who is battling breast cancer and she called to request information. She has undergone chemotherapy and just 3 weeks ago had a modified radical mastectomy. In mid July she will be admitted to the hospital for 3 weeks of treatment which includes total body irradiation. She is planning to use donor breast milk to "repopulate the intestine" with good bacteria and help with her immune response. She herself donated breastmilk to several adoptive families and has said she would like to use fresh milk from donors she knows.
Does anyone out there have any experience with this or thoughts? Is there any formal research going on? She is clearly trying to take control of a terrible situation. She has a 5 year old and 18 month old. Any help is appreciated. tracy
