I have been away for a few days and catching up now.
I am *not* frustrating with people using cup instead of finger
feeding, though what Ms. Chalmers has written about finger and cup
feeding is comparing apples and oranges. Finger feeding helps the
baby latch on and should be done with the mother there and just before
trying to latch a baby on. Cup feeding is for feeding when the mother
is not there, or to give extra volume.
I *am* frustrated when people use cup or finger or syringe *instead*
of the tube at the breast. I repeat: Babies learn to breastfeed by
breastfeeding. If the baby takes the breast and supplementation is
*necessary*, then it should be given at the breast with the tube
(supplemental nursing system).
