O Wise ones,
There are five pediatricians in the Pediatric office I work in.  We have the
only office in all of Central Florida to have a LC on staff, and the doctors
are pretty supportive of breastfeeding.  They are trained well to refer all
the breastfeeding moms to me and they support my care paths.  Today, during a
discussion with the R.... rep about this new study that shows better immune
responses in babies who have the new improved Si..........   I quickly pointed
out the same study showed the immune response was still greater in the
breastfed babies.  Our woman ped who has breastfeed three children each for
six months says, "I don't believe that breastfed babies are protected by
immunities."  I said to her that we don't see a great difference in this
country in the sickness of breastfed babies and bottle because most breastfed
babies are not 100% breastfed and then I ask, "don't you think that all the
antibodies and white blood cells  make a difference?"  She replied that she
doesn't believe that they make it through the gut and that it's never been
proven that they do.  She did go on the say that she promotes breastfeeding
because she thinks it's more easily digested.  And, she feels  the reason that
more breastfeed babies might be healthier is because their moms are home with
them and they are not in daycare.  OH, PLEASE.  I can hardly believe this
doctor.  I told her their was a study done on daycare babies who were
breastfed vs. daycare formula fed showing healthier breastfed babies.  She
said show me the study.  Does anyone know of this study and where I can get a
copy or any other study that I can give this doctor?  Please privately e-mail
