<< FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION:

How big are the parents and the aunts and uncles and cousins? Gosh if he
has an uncle that is 6 foot 8 and 325 pounds or an aunt that is 6 foot 3
and 240 pounds then he is probably going to be the same way too. >>

Very true; if the kid isn't being looked at in context, the doc may well be
seeing something that isn't there.

My stocky, big-boned 6'2" husband has a 6'6" brother; I'm just about six feet
tall and, though thin-ish side now, I was a chunky kid. My not quite 26 month
old daughter is 38.5 inches tall and 47 pounds. Her ped's comment? "Apple
trees make apples".

Emma has consistantly been right off the top of the charts since shortly after
birth. At six months she was around the 140th percentile for weight and 125th
for height. There was *literally* no place on the chart for her stats. Aside
from discussion about avoiding high calorie snacks and junk foods, her doc
hasn't made an issue of her size even though the same doc has given me
questionable breastfeeding advice in other contexts (until I started asking
him for references, that is. Thank you all for that suggestion! <G>).

Anyhow, if you look at my little girl's stats, that boy isn't all *that* big.
:-) Have the mom talk to me if she needs reassurance!

Does this doc really expect that everyone is genetically determined to be the
about the same size and body type?
