Has anyone had a problem with Medicaid and breastpump rentals? In our state,
Medicaid has always covered breastpump rentals for babies who are
hospitalized. The coverage is limited, but has covered the majority of
babies whose conditions prevent them from bf, due to hospitalization.
Recently, two HMOS have taken over the Medicaid coverage, and we have had
terrible problems with the HMOs deciding to stop this coverage, unbeknownst
to the people in our State..ie no one was told ..and I am wondering if this
type of deletion of service is against the law, ..etc....without
notification of the general public.? Anyone with this type of experience, or
suggestions? The victims of course, are the innocent babies....whose mothers
cannot afford a rental, and as a rental station, it is impossible to
subsidize the entire Medicaid population.
