hi,
a mother called me today w/ questions about hives. she appears to
be having an allergic reaction (possibly to strawberries). it started as a
heat-rash looking thing (prickly and red) on her neck and has progressed
down her breasts to
just above her nipples (and turned into hives). she's worried about it
progressing to her nipples,
what effect that would ahve on nursing, and what she should do about it.
she doesn't want ot call her dr. i suggested that she call 'dial a nurse'
and she isn't comfortable w/ that either. so i, as a mother, told her that
i personally would take a benadryl (anti-histamine) and if it hadn't
decreased by tomorrow, call a dr.
any suggestions out there? i couldn't find anything in the
breastfeeding answer book. thanks in advance, deborah danzeiser
