Hi all,

Caught a segment yesterday morning on our morning news show Canada AM.
The person interviewed was from the Canadian Institute of Child Health.
She was talking about how the brain develops differently if the baby is
left to cry a lot or is picked up, touched and cuddled a lot. She
emphasized that different hormones are released and cause the neurons?
neurotransmitters? to develop differently and that THIS IS FOR LIFE.
Most of the emphasis was on babies less than one year but under 3 years
was also mentioned.

She also mentioned that the social sciences had been saying this for
years but now the neurosciences were showing this to be evident as well.
Funny how this is getting so much attention in the media now that there
is physical evidence that letting babies cry may be harmful (duh!). And
how many have heard parents say "Well, I sleep trained my baby and he
turned out JUST FINE." Sounds familiar to "Well, I didn't bf my baby and
he turned out JUST FINE." Everything comes out in the wash.
