Greetings to all on Lactnet!

My name is Anne Clark. I introduced myself a long time ago, but have been
"lurking" for months so I will reintroduce myself. I am an RN, BSN,
Bradley educator for a long while, long-time LLL Leader and IBCLC (1995).
I am to take a new job as a hospital-based LC, coordinating lactation
services between our local hospital (Bloomington, In) and our local Public
Health Nurse Association. I am developing a time-based breastfeeding
clinical pathway that is intended to coordinate and document breastfeeding
assessment and services for the breastfeeding dyad from time of birth
through hospital discharge and follow-up into the community.

I have two questions: #1, I am looking for a mnemonic for positioning and
latch-on that can be used as a tool for breastfeeding assessment and
documentation, to be taught to staff in inservice. I remember reading
about LATCH and possibly two other mnemonics?

#2, Also I want to develop a policy and protocol for handling the baby who
will not latch. How many hours after birth do you have mom start pumping
and when and if do you supplement? TIA for sharing your time and
expertise. My e-mail address is: [log in to unmask]
