Yes, I have heard using hydrogen peroxide on cracked nipples from an IBCLC
down the interstate in Topeka KS. It was at a conference I went to last
month and I only heard part of her presentation as I was presenting the
next session. I think she said something about soaking a 2 inch X inch
gauze square and applying it to the nipple after feedings (?). Maybe
someone else who is more knowledgeable than I can elaborate on the efficacy
of this therapy.
Anyway, the response from quite a few people was Ouch! All I could think of
was getting the stuff poured on my skinned knees ( AKA owies) an untold
number of times after sliding into bases when playing softball as a young
girl. My thought was ouch too. Maybe it doesn't hurt as much when applied
to a gauze square versus pouring directly on the wound.
