Hi all,
I am doing research for a mom that wants to be well-informed in future
decision regarding early bf with baby. Her first baby was jaundiced due to ABO
incompatibility and she believes that the early supplementation at the
insistence of the doctors caused problems for nursing. She weaned after five
frustrating months of baby preferring bottle, nursing strikes, etc. They are
actively trying to conceive and want to be better informed next time with bf
advice. They were told by doc. that future babies will likely have the same
problem. I have an education background instead of clinical, and would really
appreciate any information I could pass on to this mom. This article from
Pediatrics 94 (<A HREF="http://www.aap.org/policy/hyperb.htm">
http://www.aap.org/policy/hyperb.htm</A>) is the most recent I could find. It
seems to indicate that treatment of jaundice in ABO incompatible situations is
different that other sit. where baby is jaundiced. Is that correct?
